Resilience: A Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Program for Older Adults

Desert Parkway's Resilience Program is designed to treat the older adult population by teaching them how to best deal with life-changing events, such as retirement, divorce, the onset of chronic illness, early-onset degenerative brain disorders, social withdrawal, grief and loss, and reduction of independence. These scenarios can trigger depression, as well as other aging psychiatry issues. The most common behavioral conditions in this population usually include one or a combination of the following:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Psychosis
  • Mood swings
  • Grief
  • Substance abuse

Our goal is to partner with patients, their families, and providers to develop an integrated, holistic treatment plan that will address the needs of all our clients dealing with mental illness later in life.

Desert Parkway's Resilience Inpatient Rehab provides a 24-hour structured interdisciplinary treatment program that places the patients at the center of care. Patients receive therapeutic treatment from our board certified psychiatrists, nursing team and therapists as they participate in engaging and uplifting group therapy sessions each day.

Not just for older adults...

While most patients in Resilience are ages 50+, we have gathered talented healthcare professionals capable of providing care to dual-behavioral and medically complex individuals of all ages.

Patients may look forward to...

Wider hallways, accessible facilities and bedrooms rooms, natural lighting, and regular social activities provide for a positive healing environment on our secured, 23-bed unit that is separate from other patient populations. More features include:

  • Private patio for fresh air breaks
  • Television & activities room
  • Trauma recovery yoga/chair yoga
  • Music therapy
  • Psychosocial therapeutic interventions
  • Crisis stabilization & co-occurring care

Older adults often experience major changes that make daily life difficult to cope with.
