Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital offers robust outpatient treatment to support individuals transitioning from higher levels of care or as an effective and flexible alternative to inpatient hospitalization.

Our evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities provide treatment within a safe environment staffed by caring and licensed professionals. Our staff works with each individual patient to promote stabilization and healing according to his or her unique needs in the areas of mental health and/or substance abuse recovery. Patients gain skills in the areas of developing healthy boundaries, learning how to appropriately express emotions, using effective communication skills, increasing self-esteem, managing anger, and developing life skills.

Co-occurring Outpatient Drug or Alcohol Rehab

For many, drug abuse stems from a mental health issue. When alcohol/drug addiction or abuse are present in conjunction with a behavioral disorder, we treat the problem as co-occurring. At our outpatient alcohol rehab and drug addiction center, patients are treated for each individual problem concurrently through comprehensive care, which includes traditional care tactics, 12-step programs, and holistic methods. After participating in our partial hospitalization program (PHP) or intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP), patients are better equipped to achieve a more focused recovery and greater stabilization in daily life.

PHP and IOP Treatment Overview

Our intensive outpatient rehab program is highly structured for patient comfort and security. Those receiving outpatient treatment will partake in individual and group therapy that utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as medication management (if required). Patients are kept busy and educated on how to build life skills and repair relationships with family members and friends. To assist with the latter, family therapy is also included.

This gives loved ones a resource and guide for helping the person with the illness better cope and recover. The outpatient treatment programs at Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in Las Vegas include:

  • Comprehensive assessment
  • Individualized treatment plan

Qualified instructors provide a class curriculum to keep patient current on their schoolwork. Adjunctive therapy is provided by a certified recreation therapy specialist who guides patients through mindfulness exercises geared to help them release stress, express feelings appropriately while promoting healthy relaxation techniques. Parent and guardian engagement is encouraged throughout their child’s length of treatment via evidence-based content shared at the Outpatient Services Facility.

These outpatient rehab and mental health services deliver a high level of care without hospitalization. They are similar to the components of inpatient care, but allow Las Vegas-area patients to live at home and spend weekends with their families while getting daily or every-other-day treatment at the same time. Depending on the level of care required, outpatient treatment for addiction or mental illness may last two to three weeks, but as progress is made, schedules can be adjusted to meet the needs of each situation.

The therapy included in our outpatient treatment programs teach life skills and management techniques for mood disorders, cravings, stress, relapse prevention, post-acute withdrawal syndrome, coping, and addiction. This education and care are provided by a qualified team of licensed clinical social workers, registered nurses, activity therapists, certified alcohol and drug counselors, registered dietitians, case managers, and psychiatrists. Each focuses on listening to our patients and helping them understand their illness.
